Favorite charities                                                                                                                            Wellesley Cancer Prevention Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the health of Wellesley and the surrounding community through education of strategies to reduce potential environmental health risks for the promotion of good health and the prevention of cancer                                                                                                                                         The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is an organization with a dual mission.  They are dedicated to reducing risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and cancer through education and research on vegetarian nutrition and to eliminating the suffering and misuse of animals in research by replacing the use of these animals with improved alternative high tech research methods.                                                                                                                              Silent Spring is a nonprofit organization dedicated to doing research on Breast Cancer and the Environment.  They have researched more than 200 chemicals which are associated with the development of breast cancer.  They also have many educational materials for parents to help reduce the risk of breast cancer in the family.  Check them out!                                                                                                                           Friends of Mel is a non-profit dedicated to carrying on the legacy of Mel Simmons by raising money for organizations devoted to improving the live’s of cancer survivors!                                                                                                 Kanarek Family Foundation-established in 2006 by Joe and Robin Bennett Kanarek to honor their son, David, who died of Leukemia in 2000 at the age of 15.  The Foundation provides grants to organizations who promote nursing and education around issues of improved psychosocial support for kids and adolescents with cancer and bring greater palliative and end-of-life care to these patients.                                                                                                                             The SAMFund provides grants to young adults who are surviving cancer to help them financially move their lives forward as they start back on their feet into their new life after treatment!                                                   The Billy Burchard Foundation raises money for Pancreatic Cancer Research.  It was started in 2008 in honor of Billy Burchard who developed Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 43.   He lived life to the fullest while undergoing Clinical Research Trials at Mass General Hospital.   While he died in 2006, his legacy lives on through all the lives he touched in his brief 49 years.
